Encarsia lahorensis Howard

Order: Hymenoptera  Family: Aphelinidae
Common name / Category: Parasitoid of citrus white fly Diaphorina citri

Encarsia lahorensis has been recorded as the key parasitoid of citrus whitefly in India particularly in the state of Punjab and adjoining areas. The parasitoid along with certain coccinellid predators and entomofungus Aschersonia papillata Petch (Sphaeropsidales, Nectriodaceae) keeps the population of white fly under check in several distribution zones of white fly. The parasitoid exported from India has successfully established in California, USA and in Georgia (CIS).

Production procedure

The procedure for production and utilisation of Encarsia lahorensis is similar to the Encarsia spp. parasitoids of Aleurocanthus woglumi.
